CRM_InnoNet’s latest Innovation Network event was the European Raw Materials Information and Brokerage event. This networking event aimed at stimulating collaborations between businesses and academia across Europe was held in London at the Department of Business Innovation and Skills. The event was attended by over 50 people from seven European countries.

Anne Auffret, a Policy Officer for Raw Materials at the European Commission detailed the activities of the European Innovation Partnership for Raw Materials, which aims to consolidate and focus activities relating to securing supply of raw materials for Europe. Horizon2020, the upcoming European Commission research and innovation funding programme, will fund multiple projects contributing to the objectives of the European Innovation partnership. David Gardner, from the Environmental Sustainability Knowledge Transfer Network discussed why businesses should worry about raw materials. Josephine Arendorf from Oakdene Hollins provided an overview of the European criticality assessment, which created the now-famous EU-14 list of critical raw materials, an exercise which is currently being revised.
